ABOUT US
Bette Avery established Woodsong Farm in 1967 and remains dedicated to the business still today. With a competitive background in both hunt seat and stock seat, Bette offers a broad base of knowledge. Bette holds her Massachusetts instructor's license and teaches both in our year-round lesson program and also our summer horsemanship program. As owner, Bette lives on the property and continues to manage all aspects of running the farm.
Greta Avery brings along the greener horses, keeps the made ones going the way they should, trains our riders at home and coaches our riders at the horse shows. A graduate of Bentley University, Greta has shown, trained, and coached hunters, jumpers, and equitation horses and riders at horse shows throughout the northeast and Florida. Greta has a particular affinity for starting young horses and often has one of her own that she is bringing along. In the mid 90's she took a brief hiatus from the Hunter/Jumper world and spent a few years in Ocala, FL working as barn manager for a breeding farm where she was responsible for the care and training of foals to four-year olds. In addition to holding a Massachusetts Instructor License, Greta is a USHJA Certified Trainer and a USEF Recorded (r) Judge in Hunters and Equitation.
